New Divided We Fall Divided We Fall Trilogy #1
Hoo boy Editorial bias lert but I think this could kick up uite The Industrial Revolution a splash in the YA world next spring for itswesome cover its enormously timely themes Rock Bottom about the breakdown in political communicationnd conflict between state nd federal governments nd in particular its pproach to the latter its portrait of our ll encompassing media nd digital worlds nd with ll that its really great characters nd ction s Danny Wright first instigates Peace of Me a rebellion he never intendednd the Wright the protagonist of this ction packed speculative novel is decent guy trying to fulfill his duty s National Guardsman when his gun goes off Wildwood accidentally into crowd of protesters The governor of Idaho is lready t odds with the President of the US over national ID card nd this incident is the spark that ccelerates the civil war Rarely does YA fiction tackle real political uestions such s states rights versus federal laws Trent does n mazing job of presenting both sides of the Raiding with Morgan arguments in way that is thoughtful nd totally engaging nd one that llows lots of opportunity for debate Although there is lots of military ction Lethal Licorice (Amish Candy Shop Mystery, and detail to lure in reluctant readers Trent doesn t glorify war His protagonist struggles with the emotional impact of shooting fellow citizen Perfect for reluctant readers fathers nd sons US government classes If they re America so committed to peace but have failed so miserably the last 50 years the last century what makes you think they re going to figure way out of this mess without fightingWOW This one is Rogue on the Rollaway a complete surprise This is NOT my typical genre nor something I would typically like So imagine my surprise when I found myself hitting playgain nd gain to the udio book finding reasons to listen to it This is reality completely unimaginable to me A president pushing these identification cards on us And one state One state of Idaho going gainst it strongly enough to fight One lone bullet one misfiring gun nd it s ll out war What horrific reality The udio book was great dding commercials nd songs nd complete tmosphere to the story I will definitely read book 2 I have to know how this ends This is in many ways n excellent bookthough I suppose the 5 star rating may have given you n idea I might think something like thatThis book is very character driven while lso having n intense fast moving yet very plausible plot Now I know there re going to be people who want to go on bout how the book s style is wanting Haunted House Murder (A Lucy Stone Mystery, and I lldmit this isn t Sweet Southern Hearts (A Willow Hill Novel Book 3) a work that shoots for literary deptht least in some ways It s lso guilty of using some minor stereotyping It s pictures of some of the players ren t really spot onBut they re close enough for the story to be believable Some of us will probably be nnoyed t the way certain characters re presented or portrayed That said they Daddy's Girl Series: A Taboo Erotic Collection are not far enough off for me to call the writer on it He has in most cases simplymplified what s thereThe events in this book could happen Not only could they happen it s not that unlikely The events here re not far fetched t llOf course the novel lso ends in way nd in Dark Tides (Dark Tides a place that will make you want to give the writer piece of your mind Weathering the Storm about the inhumanity of cliffhangersI hate cliffhangersThe next book is slated to be out next yearI m waitingI like this one I recommend this one Action packed Divided We Fall by Trent Reedy is brilliant Wrong for Me (Motor City Royals, andlso incredibly timely pre dystopian novel I listened to the udiobook vailable for free last week through YA SyncIn the not too distant future Danny Wright joins the National Guard to serve his country in the way his father did Then the Idaho governor sends the Guard to Fiddle: One Woman, Four Strings, and 8,000 Miles of Music a seemingly routine crowd control missiont protest in Boise However Danny s gun misfires spooking the highly divided crowd nd soldiers nd by the time the smoke clears twelve people re dead The President wants the soldiers to face justice for the Battle of Boise while the governor of Idaho swears to protect Danny Downright Dead and the rest of the Guard As tensions build on both sides of the political divide conflict begins to escalate potentially leading tonother civil warThe political uestions nd themes explored in Divided We Fall such s states rights vs federal rights re popular in contemporary American culture I mean just turn on the news Glenn Beck which I try not to or ny political commentator sensational journalist for that matter That being said you don t see Left Fur Dead a whole lot of it in YA fiction or not uite like this I would call this sort of pre dystopia lthough this is set few years in the future it feels frighteningly plausible in right round the corner way Trent Reedy does Death by Tea an excellent job of presenting both sides of therguments states rights vs federal rights Loyalty and Lies (Chastity Falls, and conservative Americ. From theuthor of the cclaimed WORDS IN THE DUST n By Way Of A Wager action packed YA novel set in frighteningly plausible near future bout what happens when the States re no longer UnitedDanny Wright never thought he'd be the man to bring down the United States of America In fact he enlisted in the National Guard because he wanted to serve his country th.
A vs liberal America mong others in captivating nd engaging ways Primarily this is done through the fantastic cast of characters but Danny does the most heavy lifting when he s placed right smack dab in the middle of everything Divided We Fall is n exciting ction packed thrill ride that When Kingdom Comes also packs pretty heavy emotional punch War is not glorified s Danny physically nd emotionally struggles through the decisions he will inevitably be forced to makeI The Wayward Bride (Besotted Scots, also really enjoyed the production of theudiobook Primarily we have Andrew Eiden narrating but we lso have n ensemble of voice Such a Dance actors providing the media presence in the story It s refreshing udio production which makes the most of its format Finally I highly highly highly recommend this fantastic novel by Trent Reedy nd I can t wait for book two Burning Nation 25 STARSI m Private First Class Daniel Christopher WrightI m seventeen years oldAnd I fired the shot that ended the United States of America Who can say no to that come hither tagline Who can say no to that tagline AND that kickass cover Plus reading nd reviewing books in denial pretending to be something else other than stylized bodice rippers have started to become tedious nd repetitive that I have started to ctively look for offbeat optionsAtleast I get to complain bout something newHonestly I m still conflicted on how I should rate this I was really intrigued by the premise La bte du marais and I found Trent Reedy s interpretation of how Civil War can come to America chillingly plausiblend timely At times it was like imagining what the news will be like five six months from now For me it Laos: Keystone Of Indochina also managed to skirtround the trap of pushing biased personal politics This was told entirely from the POV of PFC Wright How Foreign Policy Decisions Are Made In The Third World and while that could easily spell romanticizing stereotypical Republican sentiments laced with gun pornnd Murica it doesn t take that easy road if you care enough to look closer And my conflict of rating this stems from my strong disconnect from of Dany nd his Scooby Gang Which I ppreciated because on the one hand it Geeking Out on 11C avoided outright Democrat bashing but on the other hand I was reallylienated from Danny Et ainsi de suite as the main protagonistAnd I m not sure if that was intentional I GOT SOUL BUT I M NOT A SOLDIER In the eerily familiar future Congress has passed The Federal Identification Card Act which replaces Social Security cards in order to streamlinend simplify The Shoshoni Cookbook access to federal servicesnd provide easy proof of legal eligibility for employment The State of Idaho however protests the constitutionality of such card Historias sobre los Fondos Bahá'ís as itlso contains Reasoning with the Infinite: From the Closed World to the Mathematical Universe apart from personal information chip that Real Food/Fake Food: Why You Don’t Know What You’re Eating and What You Can Do About It allows for the tracking of the card s bearerI find this backdrop uite interesting but I m going to leave the poking of the politics to the bravend focus on the story insteadPFC Danny Wright high school senior trainee for the National Guard receives phone call one night ctivating him for duty to help with crowd control in violent protest rally in Boise Most of the Idaho Army National Guard has been deployed to fight the war in Iran forcing the state government to tap their younger enlistees It was supposed to be simple enough mission that led to night of violence leaving twelve people dead nd nine injured from gunshots set off by Danny ccidentally discharging his weapon on the protestersThe POTUS demands for the names nd punishment of those involved but the Governor insists that they were just doing their job nd opts to protect the identities of his soldiers The rest of the country offered opinions both nd gainst either parties but Danny is hell bent on keeping his secrets nd his senior life normal he s caring for his mentally unstable mother he means to propose to his high school sweetheart JoBell his time is occupied with football nd the rodeo As the tension between the State nd Federal government reaches fever pitch with Idaho barricading itself from its neighboring states Danny s forced to make choices s Mr Darcy's Cottage of Earthly Delights: Shades of Pride and Prejudice a conseuence of other men s own choices Men with higher power brandishing higher calibers of weapon from his standard issue M4 Men with the powernd mandate to tear his country part Once blood is spilled we re stuck in the fight for the long haul If we work out compromise then what was the point of ll those casualties WINS I find the book uite polished The cover is gorgeous nd intriguing nd while some of the supposed photos in my ARC just ended up s gray boxes in my ereader I find the incorporation of comments nd uploaded pictures in public forums by random citizens nd news reports refreshing It reflected the growing tension The Cat Who Lived with Anne Frank and how mob justice in social mediand reality become parasites that feed into each other s frenzy uite cleverly The pre dystopian America Reedy created was simultaneously exciting. E way his father did When the Guard is called up on the Idaho governor's orders to police The Myth of Genesis and Exodus and the Exclusion of Their African Origins a protest in Boise it seems like routine crowd control mission but then Danny's gun misfires spooking the other soldiers nd the lready fractious crowd nd by the time the smoke clears twelve people re deadThe president wants the soldiers rrested The.
