Ters are headed in this series I will definitely be reading the second book Also the elemental star drawing is amazing This book was amazing I stayed p all night because I could not put it downI absolutely loved how Jennifer built this world literally its another world set after the destruction of Earth after getting supernova d by our sun This world is called Xon 9 in this world there is Ka our main character is having a dilemma because she doesn t know what element she should choose for her future There are five elements wood earth metal fire and water him and which ever element you are chosen for or picked for there are good sides and bad sides to each element and they each have an affinity for jobs in the community I will go into detail in my video review Ka was a very well developed main character she s very relatable and extremely strong There is some romance but doesn t take away from the action packed story at all I found myself constantly saying one chapter Babys Watch / A Hero of Her Own until I finished the whole book No regret whatsoever I cannot wait for the second book its moved to the top of my TBR and this one is on my favorites shelf alreadyI don t want to give away any spoilers but definitely try and get your hands on this book You won t regret itDisclaimer I was sent a copy from the Author in Exchange for an honest opinion Aick weekend read with a light flowing prose strong imagery and well set atmosphere and a focus on spiritual self discovery In fact the whole adventure was for me a symbol of finding yourself and who you areI had initially several estions regarding the world but these got answered in due course of the bookI found Ka to be a likeable lead easy to relate to and her relationships with family and friends felt natural One of my favourite scene was with Ka I give this novel 55 starsThis novel is an amazing mix of Sci Fi and Fantasy If you re like me and still inching your way into the Sci Fi genre this is an absolutely fantastic way to ease yourself inGeneral Synopsis Ka is an ordinary girl living on Xon 9 When she turns 18 she is supposed to choose one of five elements to base the rest of her life on However events occur which hurtles her into an epic adventure to find out who she truly isI would have finished this book so much sooner if I didn t have so many obligations The world building was absolutely fantastic The names she gave the planet and even the characters had very profound meanings Ka the main character means Fire while the nickname her mother calls her Kata means Pure Jennifer also describes the world in absolute amazing detail Considering this isn t Earth the reader does need the world building However she does not just throw everything at you in one long winded explanation Every detail is carefully thought out and weaved into the story It s only told to the reader when necessary and done in a way that is not over the topThe characters are in depth and are easy to make assumptions about that can either be reinforced or broken throughout this novel I love when there are characters like that It makes them so believable and considering these are humans simply colonizing another planet the believe ability is needed Honestly I could go on and on about this novel But I want to let the rest of you formulate your own opinions and come to your own conclusions But suffice it to say I am sad that I must wait for the next book because I NEED IT NOWDisclaimer I received a free copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review BOOK REVIEW I received a free copy of this book Army of Fire by Jennifer L Kelly in exchange for an honest review Written in first person POV from Ka s perspective she lives on a planet called Xon9 because Earth is no longer able to sustain life On this planet everyone must choose an elemental on the day of their pronouncement which is comparable to high school graduation The elementals play a part in their careers relationships and even affect them physiologically But Ka seems to have trouble choosing Earth Fire water wood or metal She s conflicted She does eventually choose but something isn t right Eventually Ka realizes she cannot be categorized and she is far important than she originally thoughtThe protagonist Ka is such a likable character Like most teenagers she is indecisive and doesn t have a true sense of who she really is She s innocent and insecure but values her friends and is loyal to them She looks out for those around her not just what is in her own best interest The. The Elemental Abyss Newly initiated into Fire Ka must retrieve the Fire stone from the Land
Disclaimer I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest reviewWhen I saw on Instagram that the author of Army of Fire was giving away ARCs of her new book I got immediately interested I would have the privilege to read a book before the publication date and review it So here are my thoughtsArmy of Fire is the first book in a Sci Fi series with dystopian elements Hundreds of years ago the sun died so than 3000 humans were chosen to go and populate a new planet Xon 9 The rest were left there many by choice to die Now Ka the main character lives in that planet where you re supposed to choose one of five Elementals Water Fire Metal Earth and Wood to enter adulthood and receive your place in society and she doesn t feel connected to any of them in particularBecause she is the Impossible Girl The girl belonging to every Element and yet none And she has an important role in the way events will turn outWhen I read this I was in a post ACOMAF slump so it s been really difficult for me I didn t have the desire to read anything yet I ve finished this book in two main sittings And this because this book is very ick to read and straight to the point it doesn t lose itself in long boring sections as I do Descriptions are well written and not too long before you realise you re reading a description and think oh no now I ll get bored it s over and it gave you all the necessary information to create a clear image in your headI liked the second part of the book than the first one it had action story and character development and originality The first part did sometimes feel a bit too much like DivergentThere is some romance but I liked the fact that it wasn t the MAIN part of the story sometimes the main character can t tell Sweet Valentine us what s happening without describing Bob s amazing abs first while we readers are left there crying in a corner trying to make out what happened Yes there is nothing like that here the protagonist isite lucidSo overall I liked this book and I think it s very promising as a series thanks to the author for letting me read and review it 455 stars SPOILER FREEPlease note I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest reviewSynopsis Ka is about to turn 18 and with that comes a huge decision in a young Xon 9 s life Pronouncement Ka must choose between five elements that make p the world passionate fire steady wood grounded earth steely metal or calm water The only problem is Ka can t choose For most others on Xon 9 a new planet inhabited by humans since earth s demise the choice is a simple one You simply choose the element that feels the closest to your own self but for Ka it feels to her like all five elements are calling to her As Ka makes the necessary decision she finds out that her choice is a dangerous one one that threatens her and all those around her Ka must discover who she is and the only way to do that is to delve deep into the world of Xon 9 and to search for the pieces of herself that have been scattered Amidst this Ka soon discovers that not everyone on Xon 9 are as hopeful as she is for her to find her true self Ka is what the legends have foretold she is the Impossible Girl Okay that s my attempt at an elusive yet engaging synopsis First off I want to admire the way that Jennifer L Kelly did her world building We all know how important world building is in a fantasyscience fiction book that reuires a certain amount of imagination to keep it afloat A lot of times you see authors forgetting that important aspect and then the book just doesn t make sense but not with Army of Fire Jennifer L Kelly does an excellent job of explaining the death of earth and the new life on the planet of Xon 9 She keeps you engaged as you learn alongside Ka and her friends about the deeply hidden secrets of Xon 9 The story does resemble the plot of Divergent a bit but I believe that it actually enhances the story rather than detracts from it It s interesting to have read both and to be able to compare them side by side both are similar plots but with their own twists Jennifer L Kelly s characters are well rounded and multi dimensional Sloan is probably my favorite character He is mysterious but calming like waters are and I think he will do Ka some good throughout this series I really liked how almost all of the supporting male characters were written very well I would say even better than Ka herself The ending leaves you wanting and I m extremely interested in where this book and these charac. Plot is well written and fast paced which I think most teenagers in this generation enjoy I also think the author was clever having introduced s to Sloan Ka s love interest that she is also Ice Wolves (Elementals, unsure of Love interests are always a good thing There is an interesting plot twist toward the end in regards to the relationships thatnravel A good story always includes a plot twistAbout halfway through reading this I envisioned it being a huge blockbuster hit and after recently visiting Moab Utah I think that would suffice for the setting if Hollywood turned this into a movieI m most impressed with the amount of imagination that went into conjuring Some Like It Hotter up a fantastical story such as this The elementals reminded me at first of the groups that the astrology signs falls into and I loved that once you accepted your elemental they physically became a part of youI think it s important to keep the intended audience in mind when writing a review This book would be a hit with any teen falling in the range of 11 17 years old This isn t just a creatively written fantasy there are so many good themes that can taken from the story when looking at the deepernderlying meanings With that being said I give Army of Fire a 5 star rating Originally posted on Book o CrazeAlso my post on my Instagram bookocrazeYou are all possibilities and yet you are impossibleYou are the Impossible GirlThis book was a More Than a Convenient Bride (Texas Cattlemans Club: After the Storm uite fast and thoroughly enjoyable readIn fact I loved the originality of the plot and the easy flowing of the writing so much that I immediately categorized it as one of my favorite booksBut first things first with detailsThe plot as I already pointed out was just brilliantEverything is explained shortly and very effectively right from the PrologueThe Sun s explosion forced 3000 people move from Earth to Xon 9 a planet where f This story begins off briefly the MC Ka Waylon givess straight explanation on the situation at hand The sun has died out The Earth destroyed 300 people survive and are sent off to a new planet The rest of the population on Earth diesThe concept of this story is Marrying Well uite brilliant and my favorite part of the book Earth s survivors were sent off to a planet called Xon 9 I pronounce it Zon 9 Having to adapt over the years they ve tried to include as much of the Earth s traditions as possible Eventually having them create a system revolving around the remembrances of Earth Each person on Xon 9 is sorted into Earth element categories The people themselves make the choice fit themselves in the elemental category Once chosen they are injected with a serum in which helps their bodies adapt to said element For example Earth Elementals begin I am the author after all At the very least I need to support myself Thanks for everyone who has read and reviewed I received an e ARC from the author in exchange of an honest reviewFirst of all I m really in love with the Elemental StarOkay enough of it Time for the reviewWhile reading the prologue I actually felt anxious thinking What if How the author described what happened to Earth sounds so real like it would really happen somedayI like the fact that the setting of the story takes place on another planetFor the characters I like the way the characters personality were written They are really distinct from one another elementals I also like that I had a first impression on characters and eventually find out who they really areI was hooked to this story and tend to hold on to every word and every scene that happens At first I was clueless and confused as to what is happening It makes me want to continue reading and to find out It s difficult to put the book down I pulled an all nighter for this book As I go through the story I eventually find out the revelations as the MC Main Character finds it out tooAs for the MC I like her attitude and how she develops throughout the story As I was reading the book I felt like I was Ka and I feel what she feelsFor the feels this book gave me a roller coaster of emotions It s exciting confusing shocking and heart breaking There was this part a 4 word sentence to be exact that really gave me the feels and made me cry Another scene shocked me and I was really stunned I was like What theWhyHow Too manyestions but I can t construct the sentence due to shockThere is a hint of romance but not too much I m rooting for a LI Love Interest but I don t know what will happen to them on the next bookAll in all I can say that I LOVE this book And I definitely need to read the next boo.
