Expected from this book story was not up to usual standard also explanation about Carpathian language and healing chants etc which took up 12% of book this could have been used better expanding on story I look forward to each new book but I was disappointed this time It irritates me that Christine Feehan has decided to go with the current trend of using graphic words in the sex scenes it is unnecessary and seems to be done for effect but just ruins it In the end I got bored and skipped these scenes Apart from this I was enjoying the story and liked the characters but it just suddenly ended It didn t feel like it ended on a cliff hanger that it was just incomplete I also agree it was expensive for a book where the story was only 88% of the content I have no idea what has happened to her writing all I can say is boring I used to love her books especially the early ones Enough already You always cut the story short in order to add those chants and languagephrase mini dictionaries at the end of the book I m talk In Lorraine we have a woman who has suffered a great loss and is struggling tocome to terms with it Out camping while she try s to adjust she comes across three men in the process of murdering someone In fact they have even used a wooden stake in his chest as you see in the vampire movies Lorraine rushes in with no thought for her own safety she attacks the three thugs using her stew pot the only weapon she has available Andor is one of the Ancients the oldest of the Carpathians who until recently resided in a monastery on the Carpathian moutains He has come to America to aid in the right against the Vampire uprising and also to see if he can find his lifemate Little did he believe she would come to him in his darkest moment Lorraine is a treasure a modern woman martial arts expert and psychic She has a wonderful personality a n amazing way of looking at situations and analysing problems but best of all a great sense of humor The Carpathian books are not nown for being fun reads and this has it s fair share of. Her problem I had with this novel was all the talkie talkie and no action You read a vampire romance and you want action right Not here The reason for this is because the H Andor is wounded and must spend the first 40% of the book in the ground recovering Then there s the h Lorraine who spends that time debating with herself This made for a pretty boring read I was disappointed Yes a good story was interwoven in the book but the majority spent explaining in yawning detail the couples sex life I started skipping these scenes so to get to the story Never thought of the dark series as erotica but it seems these days this is the way they are going such a shame as the previous books were packed with the most amazing story linesWill have to think about purchasing these books from now on Absolutely love this book The story of Andor and Lorraine is woven beautifully among the continuing tale of the Carpathian ancients and their war with the Malinov Vampire army Andor debates allowing mortal wounds to end his life allow human hunters finish what a battle with vampires had begun and end his dark existence Lorraine searches for ways to heal the pain of loss of senseless death that took all she loved and continue life Discovering Andor under attack nowing he didn t want to stop it she rushes in to stop death and save him from the humans and himself In that moment both find their souls Now Andor h I am a long time fan of the author been with this series since the beginning which is a considerably long time The last few books are just as this one was bland As much as I dislike saying this when is it going to end For me was like reading Harry Potter couldn t wait for it to end Please do not ruin what has historically been a wonderful series by extending its life beyond its time First it was Xavier and the extinction of the species Then it was Xavier s brothers of which there was no mention of what do ever in previous books Next the monastery and the Malinov brothers again Please let it end gracefully and as wonderful as it started. Dor recognizes Lorraine as his lifemate but it will take than their telepathic connection to convince her of their immortal bond Lorraine is a lethal combination of cunning and courage So much so that she captures the attention of a master vampire one who has already lost what was once irreplaceable to him One who will strike with deadly precision at Andor and his ancient Carpathian comrades in a war to end all wars.
Drama but alsosome lighter moments which I found a great at a couple of points i actually laughed out loud Loved it I was so looking forward to this book but have to say I was thoroughly dissapointed The story itself was good but it ended with Lorraine and Andor having sex It seems like this book was wriiten uickly to get on to the next story which will no doubt be about Ferro and Elisabeta I resent having to pay nearly ten pounds for a book that ends at 88% There really isn t a whole lot to say about this book in particular Definitely if you have not read the entire series and I mean the entire 31 books prior to this series most of this book will be well beyond your grasp I continue to read the Dark series because I like the overall plot development Some books are so amazing that I could read them over and over Others offer so little to the overall story that even when I re read the series I skip over them entirely that is what this book will be for me I can only imagine that the purpose of it is to introduce that Sergei is indeed the vampire to be most concerned by and that the Carpathians need to start changing the way their practices and longstanding ideals if they are going to eep up with vampires advancement After reading the book I can say that I liked Lorraine as a character and thought she was a good partner to Andor I like that Gary Sanduu and Ferro all combined their souls with hers to save her lifemate and I think given how much stress was put on the significance of this act this will probably play a role in upcoming books I was so looking forward to this novel but was left with a meh feeling Now I get to wait another year for a book that will probably put this one to shame since clearly this was just a lead in for the next I had no idea what was going on and I ve read most of the 30 Carpathian novels although I have missed a few of the recent ones I should not have to read every single one of Feehan s books to understand this one At this point there are just too many characters in Feehan s universeAnot. Ss in the face of three attackersAndor Katonas existence has been a harsh one living for centuries as a monk in the Carpathian Mountains Unable to find his lifemate he almost welcomes his release from a colorless and unfeeling world at the hands of the vampire hunters who have mistaken him for their prey That is until a whirling ball of fury bursts onto the scene determined to save himIn one glimpse in one breath An.
